Planned Giving Campaign
The Parish Council launched a planned giving campaign to boost the revenues for the Parish. This took place place over three weekends between 23 October 2007 and 3 November 2007. It involved an information flyer to explain the problems the Parish had in balancing its books. Week 2 explained what we can do to help ourselves as we plan forward, and Week 3 was a PLEDGE week, where we asked for a response from the Parish. The campaign produced a significant response and we are confident that we will achieve our goal of increasing the Parish income by 25%. An update will be provided at the Parish AGM in October 2008 by the Chair of the Parish Council.
Father Brian has been working with a small team to get a messenger system off the ground. The concept is for the parish to form a local point of contact to pass messages to and from the parish and therefore revitalising the personal contact and providing a sense of community for local Catholics.
It is hoped this will form one of the central blocks of our communications strategy as we all move forward. It is hoped that these small groups of no more than 10-12 houses / families will build a better community and eventually pray together. It has been identified that we need over 115 messengers to cover the geographical spread of our Parish. By Autumn 2007 Fr Brian has recruited 64 and more volunteers are needed across the parish area.
