FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PROGRAMME 2008/9

For our First Holy Communion Programme this year we are again using "God's Greatest Gift" by Bernadette Wilson. This book has been employed by the children and parents alike in previous years.

We anticipate running two groups. The children's sessions will be on alternate Saturday mornings commencing in early November. This is an important preparation for the children and requires a commitment by the parents in preparing and supporting the child.

Catechists

To help us implement the programme we will need the help of some parents to act as Catechists. Catechists will be required to attend four or five preparation sessions and to take a small group of children on an alternate Saturday morning session. We hope to have two Catechists with each group of approximately eight children.

We should be grateful for parents who could voulnteer (on a rota basis) to help clear the hall at the end of each session. Please let us know on the form (available at the entrance into the church) if you would be willing to act in this capacity.

Parents will be required to attend 3 or 4 parents' sessions.

Our first meeting for everyone to discuss the content of the programme on Monday, 22 October at 8pm in the Becket Centre.
